Ethiopia Tour # 016 is a 16 days/ 16 nights tour to the northern part of Ethiopia by drive. Ethiopia Tour # 016 is interesting in that it includes to cultural and religious festivals of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The first one is called in Amharic, Ethiopia’s national language, Enkutatash, which is the Ethiopians New Year. Enkutatash is celebrated in Sep 11, and 12. The other religious festival is commemorated to the foundation of the true cross of Jesus Christ by Empress Elena. This is celebrated in Sep 26 as the replicas of Ark of the Covenants from every church around are processed to the nearby open space where there will be a big bonfire.
